This September Amsterdam was supposed to host the annual meeting of the Carbon Neutral Cities Alliance (CNCA). The CNCA is a collaboration of 22 leading global cities who aim to achieve carbon neutrality before 2050 – the most aggressive green house gas reduction targets undertaken anywhere by any city. Due to Covid-19 the event has been moved online and focusses on green recovery. How do the cities within the network find and create opportunities in sustainable development to stimulate employment and economic growth? San Francisco, Vancouver, Copenhagen, Hamburg and Amsterdam share their strategies with you!
In this public program Amsterdam deputy mayor Marieke van Doorninck will speak in our studio with city representatives of San Francisco, Vancouver, Copenhagen and Hamburg on how their cities are acting and adapting to the crisis. How do they combine greening the economy with other pressing urban needs, like jobs, housing and the struggle against inequality? How does the state support their efforts? And what can they learn from each other?
