D3.8 PED Innovation Ateliers in the Fellow Cities: Impact and lessons learnt
Summary:
The WP3 of ATELIER project focuses on engaging the local innovation ecosystem in developing smart urban solutions within Positive Energy Districts (PEDs). This involves establishing PED Innovation Ateliers (IAs) in both Lighthouse and Fellow cities, supported by the project, to ensure their self-sustainability beyond the project’s duration. The main objective of the Innovation Ateliers is to ensure the PED concept replication and guide adaptation to other scenarios, supported by the complementary objectives such as involving the local innovation ecosystem, capturing best practices and developing an EU-wide PED replication concept.
In the Fellow Cities, which are the focus of this report, Innovation Ateliers are inspired by the experiences from the Lighthouse cities and tailor solutions to local contexts through workshops and input from all innovation tracks, and closely linked with WP6 as well, focused on the PED concept replication. CARTIF, TNO and AMS Institute assist cities in establishing the Innovation Ateliers, addressing various technical, social, economic, legal and governance issues affecting the feasibility of local PEDs. A guided approach has been adopted to facilitate the IAs establishment, drawing on examples and inspiration from Lighthouse cities’ development.
