Bratislava is the capital and the largest city of the Slovak Republic. It is located in the southwest of Slovakia, occupying both banks of the River Danube and the left bank of the River Morava. Bordering Austria and Hungary, it is the only national capital in the world that borders two sovereign states. With an estimated number of 650 000 inhabitants, and more than 100 000 daily commuters from the metropolitan area, Bratislava is the economic, cultural, educational and political centre of the country.

Bratislava strives to become a liveable, accessible and healthy city with a low carbon footprint powered by innovative economy, sustainable resources and knowledgeable people.
